News : Lewis Hamilton takes F1 crown

Drivers and fans celebrate at Britain's Silverstone race track as Lewis Hamilton becomes the youngest F1 World Champion.

Friends, family and ex-racers saw Hamilton crowned the 2008 Formula One (F1) World Champion on Sunday (November 2).

Ferrari's Felipe Massa won the Brazilian Grand Prix but Hamilton's 5th place finish was just enough to earn him the points needed for overall victory.

The race finished in dramatic style as Hamilton trailed in 6th place on the last lap but was just able to overtake Toyota's Timo Glock to finish in 5th.
