News : Legendary liner makes final voyage

The Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) ocean liner sets sail from her home port in Southampton, England on her final farewell voyage to Dubai.

The Duke of Edinburgh was on board to greet the crew and bid farewell to the vessel.The Cunard ship, in her 39 years of service has sailed 5.9 million nautical miles, completed 806 trans-atlantic crossings and carried more than 2.5 million guests - among them Hollywood stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Bob Hope and Paul Newman and British royalty including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales.

The QE2's new home will be in Dubai where she will become a first class hotel and entertainment centre.
