News : Actor Paul Newman has cancer

A friend of the heart-throb actor Paul Newman has confirmed the 83-year-old is battling cancer.

There have been numerous rumours and reports in recent weeks suggesting the Hollywood star has lung cancer. Writer A.E. Hotchner, who co-founded Newman's own food products with the actor, told Reuters Newman has remained energetic and active in charity work and was doing fine as of two weeks ago.

Hotchner lives near Newman and his wife, actress Joanne Woodward, in Westport, Connecticut.
